“White boy, with black music, played on Japanese systems”

(translation of a verse from Slums Attack, polish rap group)

Many polish hip hop heads heard this verse describing Dj Decks of Slums Attack, but this week’s post won’t be about him- however it’s a nice opening to what I’m about to throw at you! This weeks TBT it’s a short selection of my favourite Dj’s and showcase of their skills that I found online. Check it out!

Probably the most acknowledged turntablist on the world!

Dj Qbert is a living legend of turntablism, unusual talent, co-creator of concept of applying the band concept to turntablism, layering drums, basslines, and scratch solos on top of each other. Technique in its purest form. Check his performance on DMC 2012 World Finals!

Dj Babu from Dilated Peoples, member of Beat Junkies, producer. The difference between Dj Babu and many Dj’s today is that Dj Babu comes from an era of hip hop when Dj’s were getting more props than Mc’s, Mc’s had full respect to the Dj and treated the Dj as a pillar of a rap group. Yes, till today Dilated Peoples present that important somehow lost element in their concerts. Check an amateur video where Dj Babu shows his beat juggling skills, just hypnotising.

Dj Lord Jazz from Lords of The Underground! In this video we are only getting a tiny taste of what this guy can do on decks. Looking back into my memories I remember Lords of The Underground performance, in which he just killed it, making a scratch standing backwards to the decks and moving the crossfader with his leg… well what’s there more to say- stunning!

If you got your selection ready, share it with us in comments or email mcwabi@hiphopsays.co.uk

Peace!

MC Wabi,

“Biały chłopak z czarną muzą na japońskim systemie”

Kazdy z nas kojarzy ten wers z “Kolejny Stracony Dzien”, Slums Attack.

Jednak w dzisiejszym Throw Back Thursday nie zaglebiam sie w sylwetke DJ Decksa, lecz rzucam w Twoja strone kilku z moich ulubionych Dj’ow i ich popisowe momenty utrwalone na video. Sprawdz to dzieciak!

Najbardziej uznany turntablista na Swiecie!

Dj Qbert to zyjaca legenda turntablismu, niesamowity talent, wspoltworca konceptu Dj bandu- Dj’e grajacy razem uzywajac scratch solo, mixowania baselinow I bebnow! Czysta technika! Sprawdz jego wystep na DMC 2012 World Finals.

Dj Babu z Dilated Peoples, czlonek Beat Junkies, producent. Sprawdz amatorski filmik gdzie Babu swoim beat juglingiem wrecz hipnotyzuje!

Dj Lord Jazz z Lords of The Underground! W tym video jest tylko maly smaczek tego co on potrafi i jak potrafi zagrac na deckach. Siegajac pamiecia do koncertu Lords of the Underground na ktorym mialem okazje byc, pamietam ze wykonywal skrecz nawet noga stojac plecami do deckow… no coz wiecej mozna powiedziec, niesamowity zajawkowicz!

Jezeli masz swoich faworytow, slij filmik w komentarzu ziom lub na mcwabi@hiphopsays.co.uk!

Pozdrowki ,

MC Wabi,
